Hunting isn't everything but without hunting everything is nothing!
Rifles and Ammunition
The total command of your rifle is more important than anything else. Caliber 30-06 up (for Eland at least .300 WIN-MAG) is allowed. Do only use bullets, like CDP, Nosler-Partition, Swift A-frame or similar. Practice at least 10-15 times at the shooting-range. Fire 10 rounds at a time standing or disposed on a shooting trestle.
If you shoot almost all 10 bullets into a "beer mat" (10 cm diameter) from a distance of 100m, you are ready for a successful hunt. It is possible to rent a weapon, but as mentioned before you are only familiar with your own one.
The import of weapons to Namibia is completely unproblematic. A document of ownership, stating the serial number of the firearms is also required. This document can be obtained at your local police station Pack the weapon in a stable, lockable rifle case and announce it to the airline in advance. It is allowed to import 60 rounds for your weapon, packed (please ask your airline) separately in your normal luggage (not carry-on luggage). No pistols, hand guns, automatic or semi-automatic weapons are allowed or may be imported into Namibia.
