Why Namibia
Namibia is Africa and nevertheless it is almost like home. Pure nature, moderate prices, solid infrastructure, a comfortable and healthy climate, a comparably stable democracy, friendly people with different colours of skin and - oh well - still a little bit German.
Hunting and the game!? Overwhelming! Scimitar horned oryx and hartebeest in the open savannah, Kudu and warthog in thick bushes, leopard and zebra in mountainous and rocky scenery, elephant and lion in the Etoscha national park - to sum up, entire Africa in one country!
Who likes to stalk gets one's money worth (good physical condition required!). It's also true for elder persons who might have lame bones and who would actually not have dared to get to know Africa.
Why Kuhwerder
That's a question that can't easily be answered. Meanwhile a great number of hunting farms in beautiful sceneries have been established. You need to distinguish between high- and game-save-fenced "game farms" with a variety of species, not all being domestic in Namibia.Farms with game-save-fenced camps for the domestic species.Safari businesses with concession areas within elephants and lions can be hunted.
Traditional cattle
farms with low-guy-wire fences, which are no hindrance for the game. The farms' daily routine is determined by nature and the cattle and by the important role of gamemanagement and hunting, not only due to decreasing cattle prices.
Kuhwerder is such a hunting farm, that is managed by us in cooperation with Waltershagen in the third generation since 1918 (fourth generation is ready to take over). There is electricity from the grid as well as solar power and at all events there is the old generator, which is used if power failure occurs and the sun is not willing to shine either.
We do use and appreciate the modern communication technology in the way that you do and we are proud of our cuisine that is mainly defined by the use of our own products.
As far as hunting and hospitality are concerned, we are entirely old-fashioned and it's also true for the prices. The prices are not like in the last century, but still quite similar.
